GLISANVI -M1 Tablets

METFORMIN-500 MG & GLIMEPIRIDE-1 MG TABLETS

Metformin (500 mg) and Glimepiride (1 mg) is a combination medication used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus by helping to control blood sugar levels.

Uses:

  • Lowers blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes patients.
  • Improves insulin sensitivity and reduces glucose production.
  • Helps in weight management in some patients.
  • Reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications like nerve damage and kidney issues.

Dosage:

The dosage varies depending on the patient’s condition and doctor’s prescription. However, a common dosage guideline is:

  • Starting dose: 1 tablet once daily with food, usually before breakfast or the first main meal.
  • Maintenance dose: The dose may be adjusted by the doctor based on blood sugar levels.
  • Maximum dose: Should not exceed 2000 mg of Metformin and 8 mg of Glimepiride per day.

How to Take:

  • Take with food to reduce stomach upset.
  • Do not crush or chew the tablet.
  • Follow the doctor's instructions regarding dose adjustments.

Side Effects:

  • Common: Nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, dizziness, headache, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
  • Serious: Lactic acidosis (rare but serious), severe hypoglycemia, liver issues.

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol as it increases the risk of low blood sugar and lactic acidosis.
  • Not recommended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver problems.
  • Regular blood sugar monitoring is essential.

Missed Dose:

  • Take it as soon as you remember unless it’s close to the next dose.
  • Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
